Turn an hourly rate into a yearly salary and every paycheck size in between, or a salary into what your time is actually paid. Unpaid time off and overtime are counted, because they change the answer.
From an hourly rate, a week's pay is the rate times the hours, with hours past 40 paid at time and a half if you choose that. That is the federal default for hourly workers, and a few states add daily overtime on top, which is not counted here. The year is a week's pay times the weeks you are actually paid, so unpaid time off lowers it and paid vacation does not. From a salary, the hourly figure is the salary divided by the hours you really work in a year. Paycheck amounts are the year divided evenly: 12 monthly, 24 twice-monthly, 26 every-other-week and 52 weekly checks. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere. The link button copies your numbers into the page address and nowhere else.
$52,000 before tax at 40 hours a week for 52 paid weeks, because that is 2,080 hours. For a quick estimate, double the hourly rate and add three zeros: $25 becomes about $50,000. Unpaid weeks off or overtime change the answer, and the calculator counts both.
Divide the salary by the hours you work in a year: 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 hours. If you regularly work more than 40 hours on a salary, your real hourly rate is lower, and the calculator shows by how much.
Before tax. The paycheck calculator works out take-home pay after federal and state tax, Social Security, Medicare and deductions.
